DFO Care Offers Free Health Checks for Over 50 Nigerians at Lagos Medical Programme
Dr. Okogwu noted that many dangerous diseases lead to preventable deaths, with survival windows sometimes as short as four minutes, underscoring the need for readily available first aid supplies and training.
Over fifty Nigerians received free health checks, including assessments of blood sugar levels, body mass index (BMI), and blood pressure, along with medical consultations, during an event organised by DFO Care, the charitable arm of DFO Clinic, in the Yaba area of Lagos State on Sunday.
Participants also engaged in health seminars covering vital topics such as the detection of counterfeit medications, dangers of self-medication, healthy lifestyle choices, dietary habits, importance of multivitamins, and warning signs of “silent killer” diseases like hypertension, high cholesterol, stroke, cancer, and prostate issues.
DFO Founder and Medical Director, Dr. Francis Okogwu, highlighted that the event demonstrates the organisation’s commitment to supporting communities and people with provision of free medical assistance, particularly through preventive healthcare initiatives.
He stressed the importance of regular health checks, consistent but gradual exercise, a balanced diet, and moderate or no alcohol consumption.
Dr. Okogwu noted that many dangerous diseases lead to preventable deaths, with survival windows sometimes as short as four minutes, underscoring the need for readily available first aid supplies and training.
He urged Nigerians to be proactive by paying more attention to preventive healthcare, which reduces the risk of spending much more on curative medicine.
The Medical Director also expressed DFO Care’s intention to expand and replicate the programme in the future, encouraging them to take advantage of such invaluable health opportunities.
