Dangote Refinery Suspends Sales To Unregistered Marketers
THECONSCIENCE NG reports that Dangote Petroleum Refinery has stopped allowing customers to pick up fuel directly from its facility starting Thursday.
The suspension was confirmed in an email sent to the company’s marketing partners and signed by the Group Commercial Operations Department.
Dangote Refinery also instructed marketing partners to halt all payments related to active Product Fulfillment Instructions (PFIs) for self-collection.
It warned that any payments made after September 18 will not be accepted.
“We wish to inform you that, effective 18th September 2025, Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE has placed all self-collection gantry sales on hold until further notice,” the mail stated.
“In light of this development, we kindly request that all payments related to active PFIs for self-collection are also placed on hold until further notice. Please note that any payment made after this date will not be honoured.”
The Refinery said this change is to help make operations run more smoothly and reduce problems.
The refinery urged all active and new customers to register for its Free Delivery Scheme, which guarantees direct shipments to retail outlets and remains fully operational.
“We encourage all active and newly onboarded customers to register for the DPRP Free Delivery Scheme, which remains fully operational and offers a seamless delivery experience to your station.”
The company apologized for any inconvenience the decision might cause, adding, “We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we implement this operational adjustment.”
This decision comes during a disagreement between Dangote Refinery, the workers’ union (NUPENG), and the marketers’ association (DAPPMAN).
NUPENG accused Dangote Refinery of resisting unionisation of its truck drivers despite a government-brokered agreement.
DAPPMAN then faulted the company’s controversial “free delivery scheme,” alleging that marketers are compelled to rely on Dangote’s fleet at commercial rates.
Meanwhile, Dangote refinery said the scheme will keep fuel supplies steady and costs low. It also accused some marketers of asking for unfair subsidies and causing fuel to be diverted illegally.
