Court Remands Olori Esho in Kirikiri Prison Over Multiple Murder Charges

THECONSCIENCE NG reports that  44-year-old man, Wasiu Akinwande, popularly known as Olori Esho, has been remanded in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre by an Ikeja Magistrate Court in Ogba, Lagos, over multiple murder and related charges.

Magistrate Mobolaji Tanimola ordered his remand for an initial 30 days, pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP), following the 11-count charge filed against him by the Nigeria Police Force.

The charges against Akinwande include conspiracy to commit murder, actual murder, attempted murder, unlawful possession of firearms and poisonous weapons, membership of a secret society, grievous harm, and threat to life.

According to police prosecutor, Nosa Uhumwangho, the accused and other accomplices still at large allegedly committed the crimes at various locations in Lagos between December 2010 and April 2025.

The court heard that Akinwande, while allegedly armed with an AK-47, shot and killed two young men, 30-year-old Yusuf Bolakale and 23-year-old Yusuf Ramadan, at No. 11 Mosalashi Street, Mushin, before fleeing to Alagbado, where he was later arrested.

In another incident dating back to December 9, 2010, at Tiamiyu Street in Fadeyi, the defendant was said to have fatally shot a 10-year-old girl, Aminat Lateef, who was reportedly running an errand at the time of the attack.

The prosecution also linked him to a violent clash between rival cult groups in Idi-Araba on July 31, 2024, where six people, including Anyila and Ojajo (surnames unknown), were reportedly killed.
