Court Orders Final Forfeiture Of $4.7m, ₦830m, Properties Linked To Emefiele
The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the permanent forfeiture of $4.7 million, ₦830 million, and several properties linked to former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele.
In a ruling delivered on Friday, Justice Yellim Bogoro also mandated the final forfeiture of $900,000 in investments traced to Emefiele’s close relative, Anita Joy Omoile.
Additionally, the court ordered the final forfeiture of $4.4 million in investments tied to Deep Blue Energy Services Ltd, N283 million in Zenith Bank linked to Liman Investment Ltd, as well as €20,000 and £1,999.50 traced to Exactquote Bureau De Change (BDC), all associated with Omoile.
Following the request of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Justice Bogoro ruled that the funds be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria, asserting that they were proceeds of unlawful activities.
