The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) has announced that the inauguration of its 21st President and Chairman, Mr Bayo Olugbemi, would be done virtually (online).
According to Nelson Oladunjoye, the Head, Corporate Communication and External Relations, in a statement in Lagos, the inauguration would hold on Saturday.
Olugbemi and other incoming officers had been elected through an off-site electronic voting system between April 1 and April 4. The results of the election were announced at the institute’s virtual Annual General Meeting on April 4, where it reviewed its 2019 financial and operational reports. The tenure of the elected officers is to run from 2020 to 2022.
Olagundoye said the online investiture would attract would Chairmen and Chief Executives of banks, Past Presidents of the Institute, Presidents of other professional bodies and top Government functionaries, among others..
He added that ahead of the investiture, the institute would hold the 2020 presidential valedictory address by its outgoing President, Dr Uche Olowu, also virtually, on Friday, in Lagos with the ‘Ethical Leadership in Banks and Emotional Intelligence’, as its theme.
