How Oyekan’s N1.35m Donations Inspired 27 Displaced BusinessWomen, Artisans In Lagos
A total of Twenty-Seven business women and artisans who lost their sources of livelihood to government’s urban renewal programmes in Lagos Island said they were inspired to rise beyond their challenges by Hon. Taiwo Oyekan.
Oyekan, a high ranking Lagos Council Legislator had risen to the occasion through his economic intervention and donations of One Million, Three Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N1,350,000) to the beneficiaries whose shops amd businesses were affected by the Urban Regeneration Exercise of the Lagos State Government.
Each beneficiary received Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000) each.
While speaking at the presentation which took place in Ojuworo Community, Isale-Eko, Lagos Island Local Government Area, Lagos, Oyekan said the financial lifeline became necessary to alleviate the resultant effect of the unfortunate incident and reignite their businesses.
“This intervention will promote local economy and improve the Victims’ Standard of Living”, he stated.
On his part, A Community Leader and Ward C1 Chairman, Alh. Shina Agara Onilegbale lauded the continuous socio economic supports for residents across the area, describing Oyekan as the Best Performing Councillor ever elected in Lagos.
Mrs. Faidat Erinfolami, a beneficiary who spoke on behalf of others, while expressing gratitude stated that the Legislator has inspired the Twenty-Seven beneficiaries to keep hope alive.
Erinfolami added that with the support they can begin their journey to financial recovery and entrepreneurship.
Another beneficiary, Alhaja Ajoke Sanni said: “The Cash Gift is a surprise gesture to me. I did not expect it. I Pray that the Almighty God will contribute to bless you, grant you all your heart desires and take you to higher political position.”
