Brymo Slams Burna Boy, Davido, Others For ‘Exploiting’ Rising Artistes
THECONSCIENCE NG reports that Nigerian singer Brymo has called out some of the country’s biggest music stars, including Burna Boy and Davido, accusing them of overshadowing emerging artistes by frequently jumping on remixes of trending songs.
In a post shared via his Instagram Story, Brymo alleged that many top artistes collaborate with rising talents not out of genuine support, but to stay relevant by tapping into the buzz surrounding new hits.
“Dear Nigerian mainstream ‘A-listers’ — Burna [Boy], Davido and co — stop jumping on every hit song remix, especially those by newer acts,” he wrote.
He argued that this trend stifles the organic growth of young musicians and gives a misleading impression of mentorship within the industry.
“Let other artistes find their own way. Pretending to help them climb higher is a ridiculous spectacle. Stop seeking relevance in the efforts of those who know little about the business. It’s vile!” he added.
Brymo’s comments have since sparked widespread debate online, with fans and industry observers divided over whether such collaborations boost or hinder the careers of emerging artistes.
