THECONSCIENCE can authoritatively report shocking death of Barrister John Segun Odubela, a popular Lagos lawyer and former Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology in Ogun State.
Reliable sources close to the family confirmed that the 55 year old Ogun State born lawyer died of suspected Covid-19 complications on Monday March 15 after doctors battled hard to save him at the intensive care unit of a top hospital in Lagos.
Segun Odubela had a successful legal career becoming a Senior Advocate of Nigeria SAN in 2017, twenty seven years after he was called to bar.
He was a lawyer to many VIPs including Dino Melaye and Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
He was Managing Partner, Rickey Tarfa & Co Lagos and Head of Chambers of the Firm.
He was also a Notary Public of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He later obtained a Masters of Law degree from the University of Lagos, in 1995.
He was a member of the International Bar Association and Nigerian Bar Association.
Barrister Olusegun Odubela was a devoted member of the International Church of Christ in Lagos.
He is survived by wife, Chief (Mrs) Olubimpe Abike Odubela, a luxury fashion designing professional, and children.
