No Armed Gunmen Invasion or Death in Ajebo, Only Land Dispute – Police
The Lagos State Police Command has debunked reports alleging that armed gunmen invaded Ajebo community near Agbowa in the Ikosi-Ejirin LCDA, insisting that the incident was nothing more than a land dispute between two families.
The Command, in a statement issued on Friday by its spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebesi, described a viral report by a popular newspaper (not TheConscience NG News) as “mischievous, untrue, and misleading”, noting that no armed hoodlums attacked residents, looted property, or fired gunshots as claimed.
According to the statement, a clash erupted within Ajebo community following a long-standing land disagreement between two contending families, leading to panic among some residents.
Police said that upon receiving the distress report, joint intervention teams—comprising Tactical Squads, PMF Anti-Riot personnel, operatives from Agbowa Division, Area N Command, and other special units—were immediately deployed to the area.
Officers swiftly restored calm, and normal activities resumed in the community, the Command confirmed.

Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, ordered a prompt investigation into the disturbance. Preliminary findings, he said, showed clearly that the unrest had no connection to any armed invasion, and that no life was lost nor any resident injured before or during the disruption.
The police further emphasised that contrary to the circulating report, no firearm was discharged at any point during the incident. “There was no invasion of the community by any armed group from anywhere,” the statement said, adding that police units acted professionally to restore peace.
The leaders of the two families involved in the dispute have been identified and invited to the Command Headquarters for investigation.
They have been warned to maintain peace, with the CP cautioning that the police would not hesitate to apply the full weight of the law against any instigators of violence.
He reassured residents of Ajebo and Lagos State at large of the Command’s continued commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state.
