Adron Homes Bows To Pressure, Refunds N16.85m to Europe-Based Nigerian

Adron Homes, a real estate company under the leadership of Managing Director, Adetola Emmanuelking, has returned N16.85 million to Robert Essien, a Nigerian residing in a European country.

Essien reportedly picked up a cheque payment from the real estate development company reflecting the refund of the sum on June 6.

“When I picked up the cheque on June 6, I discovered that it had since been issued on May 23. This meant it was issued a day after FIJ  published a story on how Adron Homes wanted me to give up 30 per cent on the N16.85 million I paid for a plot of land in Ogun State,” a delighted Essien told FIJ on Tuesday evening.

“I have been able to pay the cheque into my account and it has successfully cleared. As we speak, the money is now in my account. Thank you so much, FIJ, for coming to my rescue. God bless you. I am very grateful to you for this, ” he stated.

Earlier, Adron Homes had collected N16.85 million from Essien for a plot of land at Treasure Park and Garden, Phase 2, Shimawa, Ogun State, in late 2024.

After making a full payment to Adron Homes for the land, however, the real estate company did not immediately allocate it to him.

Adron Homes only subsequently insisted that “he showed an intention to build on the land”.

This meant that it was when Essien showed a readiness to build a house on the plot that it would be allocated to him.

At that time, Essien was forced to communicate his intention to build to Adron Homes.

Essien was afterwards sent pictures of structures and architectural designs he could study and consider for his building.

At that point, he was also told that for Adron Homes to construct a building for him, he would have to pay them an additional N70 million.

When Adron Homes became adamant on its demand for N70 million, Essien demanded a refund of the N16.85 million he had earlier paid to the company for the land.

In response, Adron Homes said it would not make any refund to Essien except 30 per cent of the N16.85 million he had paid for the land was deducted as administrative fee.

Adron Homes insisted on making the 30 per cent deduction from Essien’s N16.85 million, but the Europe-based Nigerian rejected the move, stating that the real estate development company wanted to benefit from a payment it had not worked for.

The company failed to allocate a land to Essien and held on to the sum for several months until FIJ intervened in late May.
