Prince (Dr.) Adedipe Ewenla Emerges As Akinjagunla Aare Ona kakanfo of Yoruba Land

In a significant development for the Yoruba community, Prince Amb (Dr.) Adedipe Ewenla, the Chief Executive Officer of Adedas and Company Global Services Limited, has been appointed as the Akinjagunla Aare Ona kakanfo of Yoruba Land.

This prestigious appointment marks a new chapter in his leadership journey, reflecting his longstanding commitment to the promotion and preservation of Yoruba culture and traditions.

The confirmation of Prince Ewenla’s appointment was officially communicated in a letter signed by the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, on the 10th of December, 2024.

The letter highlighted that Prince Ewenla’s appointment was a result of his consistent contributions to the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) and his dedication to the core ideals of the congress in advancing the Yoruba culture. The letter read:

“Having monitored your past activities in the OPC as well as your records and dedication to the ideals of the congress in the promotion of Yoruba culture and traditions, I am pleased to inform you that you have been confirmed as one of the beneficiaries of the honorary title holder under the prestigious stool of the Aare Ona kakanfo of Yorubaland.”

Iba Gani Adams further emphasized the importance of this new position, affirming that the confirmation would be followed by an official investiture.

The ceremony is scheduled for the seventh anniversary of the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, which will take place on Monday, January 13, 2025. The formal reception for the new titleholder will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025.

In his message, Iba Gani Adams expressed confidence that Prince Ewenla would use his new position to further strengthen the unity of Yorubaland and promote the values that are central to the Yoruba people.

As the Akinjagunla Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Prince Ewenla is expected to work closely with all members of the Council to achieve the collective dreams of the Yoruba people, contributing to the enhancement of the region’s cultural and social cohesion.

The Akinjagunla title, which carries a significant weight within the Yoruba traditional structure, is one of the honorary titles awarded under the Aare Onakakanfo stool.
