Police Appoint 3rd PRO In 9 Months, Meet CSP Anietie Okokon
The Nigeria Police Force has again changed its lead public relations officer and spokesman barely three months after outgoing PRO, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, took over the role.
THECONSCIENCE NG gathers that DCP Okon has been redeployed to the Lagos State Police Command.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Olatunji Rilwan Disu, had on March 8, 2026 appointed Okon to replace AC Benjamin Hundeyin.
Hundeyin was appointed Force PRO in September 2025 as a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), succeeding Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who had earlier been promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police and deployed to Delta State.
However, on Friday IGP Disu approved the appointment of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force.
CSP Iniedu, a native of Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, brings extensive experience in public communication, operational policing, intelligence management, administration, and institutional accountability.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo and has completed several professional courses in investigative interviewing, crime scene management, human rights-based policing, strategic communication, and intelligence analysis.
Before his appointment, CSP Iniedu served as Head of the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, where he led initiatives aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability, and public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force. He also previously served as Public Relations Officer of the Police College of Information Technology, Kobape, Ogun State.
Throughout his career, he has held several strategic positions, including Operations Officer, Maisandari Division in Yobe State; Area Crime Officer, Umuahia Area Command in Abia State; Staff Officer at the IGP Secretariat, Force Headquarters; Second-in-Command of the 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron, Kubwa; and Officer-in-Charge of the Force Headquarters Situation Room.
The IGP expressed confidence in CSP Iniedu’s ability to lead the Force Public Relations Department, noting that his professional experience and expertise would strengthen the Force’s strategic communication efforts, public engagement, and ongoing policing reforms.
