Cultists Go Wild, Attack Polytechnic Student In Osun
Students of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State stormed the streets on February 11, 2022 to protest the killing of their colleague, Hassan Adedeji who was murdered by suspected cultist.
The protest led to the barricade of some major roads within the town and afterwards stormed the palace of Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, the Timi of Ede land to express their displeasure over the deaths.
According to Daily Post, the victim was said to have been brutally murdered along with a motorcyclist in the early hours of Thursday by suspected cult members.
The duo was killed at the Agbalemobode area, which is very close to the second gate of the school.
The National President of the Federation of Ede Youths Association, Abdulazeez Mufutaudeen, said the deceased student had concluded his Higher National Diploma (HND) programme at the polytechnic and was awaiting his call-up for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
According to Abdulazeez, the late student boarded a commercial motorcycle to purchase marijuana when he was confronted by suspected cult members with whom he allegedly had some form of unresolved disputes in the past.
Reacting to the killings, the spokesperson for the polytechnic, Sola Lawal described the incident as unfortunate, adding that the institution’s management was saddened by the news.
Lawal urged the protesting students to allow the law take its course.
He explained that the Nigeria Police have swung into action and assured the students that the culprits would be brought to justice.
Also, the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Police has confirmed the incident.
The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola vowed that the prime suspect, Rasheed Okoolu, a notorious cult member based in Ede, would be brought to justice.
