Over 5000 To Attend OPU-USA Global Yoruba Cultural Summit 2025

THECONSCIENCE NG reports that the Oodua Progressive Union USA (OPU-USA), said it is firming up plans to host an exceptional cultural summit, “The Voice of Heritage: OPU-USA @ 2025,” scheduled for 7-8 August 2025 at Olive Palace Banquets, Mt Prospect, Illinois.

The event is expected to draw over 5,000 Yoruba participants from around the world, both in person and online.

Under the theme “Cultural Sustainability and the Future of Traditions in Diaspora – Facing the Future Together,” the summit aims to celebrate Yoruba heritage through a vibrant programme of keynote speeches, traditional showcases, live music, dance performances, and engaging panel discussions.

Notably, Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams, the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland and Global Convener of OPU Worldwide, will deliver the keynote address, emphasising OPU-USA’s dedication to preserving Yoruba culture while paving the way for the future.

The event will be organised by a distinguished leadership team, including Comrade Afolabi Olurin and Dr. Olatoye Itaniyi, among others. A special brochure featuring cultural insights and community stories will also be unveiled.

Attendees can anticipate an exciting mix of activities, including live performances, traditional dance, cultural games, and educational lectures, ensuring a memorable experience that highlights the richness of cultural identity.

OPU-USA promotes the principle of “Common Heritage, One Destiny,” advocating for unity, empowerment, and cultural pride among the Yoruba diaspora. The 2025 summit is not merely a celebration but a vital revitalisation of cultural heritage and a call to strengthen community ties for a brighter future.
