Tinubu Renames University Of Maiduguri After Buhari
THECONSCIENCE NG reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the renaming of the University of Maiduguri as Muhammadu Buhari University, in honour of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The announcement was made during a special session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) held on Thursday in Abuja, where tributes were paid to the former Head of State and two-term civilian president, who died earlier this week.
President Tinubu said the decision was a mark of national gratitude for Buhari’s decades of public service, noting his deep ties to the North-East region and his enduring influence on Nigeria’s democratic and military history.
Further details on the formalisation of the name change and implementation by the Ministry of Education are expected in the coming days.
