Rivers Sole Administrator Ibas Attends First NEC Meeting
THECONSCIENCE NG reports that Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, the newly appointed Sole Administrator of Rivers State, made his first appearance at the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Ibas was appointed by President Bola Tinubu in March 2025 following the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara. His participation marks a significant moment as he joins other state leaders to deliberate on key economic issues affecting the nation.
The meeting, presided over by Vice President Kashim Shettima, was attended by several governors and deputy governors from across Nigeria’s 36 states.
Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori—who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC)—led the opening prayers, following a request by Vice President Shettima.
Among the notable governors present were:
- Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia (Benue State)
- Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq (Kwara State)
- Monday Okpebholo (Edo State)
- Bassey Otu (Cross River State)
