Police Arrest Guard For Abduction, Defilement Of 14-yr-old Girl In Rivers

THECONSCIENCE NG reports that the Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command has arrested a security guard identified as Godday, who worked at a building formerly used by a commercial bank around Mothercat Junction, TransAmadi, Port Harcourt.

The suspect was apprehended on Tuesday, September 23rd, for allegedly abducting and defiling a 14-year-old girl.

According to the victim’s mother, she sent her daughter to withdraw money from an ATM at Mothercat on Saturday, September 20th, 2025.

The girl withdrew money from one bank and then went to another bank to withdraw more cash. However, she was allegedly abducted by the suspect, who had been standing behind her at one of the banks.

The suspect dragged the girl to his security post, locked the gate, and raped her.

The mother said girl’s clothes were soaked with water and blood, and she had bruises on her face, neck, and leg.

She narrated: “While we were on her search, I called again she pick with a low voice that she was on her way home.

“When she came, her clothe was soaked with water and blood, there were bruises on her face, neck and leg. Her left jaw got swollen and her left eye too. She was so weak.

“First of all, we went to Police station in Amadi and made an official report, we took her to the hospital for treatment. When she became a bit strong, we asked her what happened. She explained that when she was withdrawing money at a bank in ordinance,Trans Amadi, a man was standing behind her.So she felt the man also came to withdraw money. After withdrawing money, she discovered that the man did not proceed to the bank ATM to withdraw money.

“She now entered another Keke and went back to another bank at mothercat. When she came down infront of the bank at mothercat, she saw the man who was standing behind her at the bank in ordinance, the man starting dragging her at the front of the bank at mothercat, she was shouting no person came to her rescue. The man dragged her to a bank where he is a security guard at the same mothercat, dragged her inside, locked the gate and raped her.

“At that process while she was struggling the man held her mouth and started beating her, till she passed out.

“After some hours, the man woke her up and told her, pack your things and start going.

“So we reported the case again to the first bank where she went to withdraw money at Mothercat, they now went in search of the guy and arrested him.

“The money she went to withdraw,,when I calculated, three hundred and forty thousand naira is not in that money”.

However, the victim’s mother has called for justice, stating that no amount of money can bring back her daughter’s virginity.

The police were informed, and the suspect was arrested after the bank’s security personnel collaborated with the Amadi Police Division.

The suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Port Harcourt for further investigation.

The Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, Superintendent of Police Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident, stating that the suspect is currently undergoing further investigation at SCIID Port Harcourt.

Meanwhile, Dennis Otobo, a member of the Association Against Child Sexual Abuse and Gender-Based Violence in Rivers State, has also urged the police to complete their investigation and arraign the suspect in court without delay.
