Over Two Million Candidates Registered For 2025 UTME – JAMB

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the successful completion of registration for over two million candidates for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), set to take place in April.

According to JAMB’s weekly bulletin, as of March 8, 2025, a total of 2,030,627 candidates had completed their registration. This figure excludes those who registered for the examination at foreign centres.

The registration process, which began on February 3, 2025, will allow these candidates to participate in the UTME, scheduled for April 25, 2025.

Additionally, 200,115 candidates have expressed interest in taking the optional mock UTME, which is set for April 5, 2025. Among them, 630 candidates have registered for a trial mock examination on the same date.

With registration now closed, JAMB has shifted its focus to ensuring examination security, implementing new anti-cheating measures to safeguard the integrity of the test. These measures have already led to the arrest of several candidates attempting to gain admission using forged A-level results.

JAMB has warned candidates against engaging in any form of malpractice, stressing that strict monitoring systems are in place to detect and penalise fraudulent activities. The Board also reminded candidates to adhere strictly to examination guidelines and avoid any dishonest practices.

JAMB further emphasized that UTME registration is separate from school-based exams such as WAEC and NECO, urging all stakeholders to recognise this distinction and comply with the Board’s registration protocols.
