Hosts Competition To Celebrate New Lagos Island LG Chairman-Elect
The Olowogbowo walkway football club has organised honorary match for the Lagos Island local government chairman-elect, Hon
Taiwo Oyekan following his electoral victory at the poll.
The grassroot soccer was played on sunday 20 July, 2025 in the Olowogbowo Community, Lagos Island, Lagos
According to the organizer, the match was staged to reaffirm support and loyalty to Hon. Oyekan, the vice chairman-elect, Hon. Olatunji Issa Arulai Folami, ward A1 councillor-elect, Hon. Oluwatosin Ologunmaga and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The spokesperson of the football club, Mr. Moshood Alejo stated that it is to further strengthen community bond, improve physical and mental health of the youths on the Island.
The eight(8) teams who participated in the match were Walkway connect FC, Supreme FC,United Boys FC, Island Groove, Betnaija FC, Walkway FC, Prestige FC and KB football club.
United Boys FC beat Walkway connect FC 2-1 while KB FC defeated Betnaija FC 1-0.
In the finals, KB FC beat United Boys 2(1) to 2(0) in penalties to clinch the first position.
The sporting event was sponsored by Mr. Azeez Damilola Obanikoro popularly known as ” JACUZZI”
It witnessed a large participation across the community. It is the talk of the town.
Dignitaries present were representative of the chairman-elect, Team PTO, the vice chairman-elect, Hon. Olatunji Issa Arulai Folami, ward A1 councillor-elect, Hon. Oluwatosin Ologunmaga, Hon. Gbemisola Lucas, councilor-elect ward C1 and sport lovers.
