August24news Publisher Bags Media Personality Award in Lagos
The Publisher of August24news.com, Mr. Ajagbe Adeyemi Teslim, has been honoured with the Media Personality of the Year Award by Go-Culture.
The recognition highlights his pioneering role as one of the first media practitioners on Lagos Island to establish an online platform, as well as his contributions to the growth of journalism in the state.
The award was presented at the maiden edition of the 2016 Celebrity Cup, held on Friday on Lagos Island, an initiative designed to celebrate individuals making meaningful impact within the community.
According to the organisers, the award is focused on recognising excellence rather than competition, particularly among individuals shaping the positive image of Lagos Island.
“We aim to change negative narratives about Lagos Island by spotlighting professionals who are excelling in their fields and contributing to the community’s development,” the organisers said.
Speaking after receiving the award, Ajagbe expressed appreciation for the recognition, describing it as a motivation to do more.
“This honour underscores the relevance of our work and its impact on society. We remain committed to telling our stories and advancing the development of Lagos Island,” he said.

Ajagbe began his journalism career with the defunct Island News before moving to P.M. News as an entertainment reporter. He later worked on the crime desk of the now-defunct National Mirror before founding August24news.com in 2010, positioning himself among early adopters of online journalism in Nigeria.
He also serves as Special Assistant on Media and Digital Communications to the Chairman of Lagos Island East LCDA, Hon. Muibi Alade Folawiyo.
The event featured multiple award categories, including content creation, music, fashion, photography, and event services.
