…As He Marks Birthday with Numerous Donations, Traders Empowerment

The Odogunyan area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, witnessed a momentous occasion on Saturday, April 20th, 2024, as Chief Kamorudeen Lamina, a renowned real estate mogul, was honoured with an Islamic turbaning ceremony as the Osupa Adeen of Odogunyan Central Mosque, Ikorodu.

The event also wrapped up the various empowerment activities for traders, artisans, students and other donations for the less privileged that has characterised the week-long celebration of the philanthropist, Otunba Sir K’s birthday which was on Monday, April 15th.

The turbaning event, held at the premises of the mosque, attracted esteemed dignitaries, members of prestigious social clubs, and distinguished Islamic clerics from mosques and Muslim communities across Lagos State.

The ceremony commenced with solemn prayer sessions, invoking blessings upon the awardee and his journey ahead. As the atmosphere filled with spirituality, heartfelt eulogies were delivered, paying tribute to the remarkable achievements of Chief Lamina, also known as Sir K.

Islamic recitations from the Quran resonated through the air, captivating the audience and deepening the spiritual ambiance. The verses from the holy book served as a reminder of the significance of faith and the importance of embracing one’s religious heritage.

The highlight of the event was the captivating lecture delivered by Fadhilat Sheik Lukman Adetunji Yunus, the esteemed secretary of the Ikorodu North Muslim Community. Drawing from his vast knowledge and wisdom, Sheik Yunus enlightened the audience with his words of guidance and inspiration, emphasizing the values of humility, integrity, and community service.

Following the uplifting lecture, the turbaning ceremony itself took place, conducted by Fadhilat Sheik Imam Mikaheel Kehinde Owoyalumo, the chief imam of Odogunyan Central Mosque. This symbolic act marked Chief Lamina’s ascent to the prestigious position of Osupa Adeen of Odogunyan Central Mosque. The turban, a significant religious symbol, represented his dedication to his faith and his commitment to leading his community towards spiritual enlightenment.

The Chief Imam noted that Sir K’s dedication to business endeavours and his tireless commitment to serving his community, humility, love for the things of faith and good nature earned him the recognition.

“For many years, our awardee today has been very supportive of the mosque especially our building project. He has donated huge sums of money to the mosque and significantly contributed to our community, hence our decision to honour him.”

During the ceremony, the awardee also made fresh pledge for more financial donations towards the completion of the mosque ongoing building project.

In his remarks, the celebrant expressed gratitude to God for his mercies, adding that wealthy Nigerians should rise up to support the less privileged as government alone can not do everything.

He also commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, and urged him to remember Odogunyan communities for roads and other amenities that can make life easier.

A friend of the celebrant, Deacon Matthew Adebayo, who spoke paid glowing tributes to Chief Lamina. Adebayo described Lamina as someone who put smiles on the faces of many people.

The programme concluded with a joyous reception ceremony, where guests, associates, and friends were treated to delightful music from popular singer Ere Asalatu, sumptuous food, and refreshing drinks. The atmosphere was filled with camaraderie and celebration, as everyone joined in to honour and congratulate the newly turbaned Osupa Adeen.

This auspicious occasion served as a reminder of the importance of recognizing and honouring individuals who embody the values of leadership, integrity, and service. Chief Lamina’s journey as the Osupa Adeen of Odogunyan Central Mosque will undoubtedly inspire future generations to strive for excellence and make a positive impact on society.
