Lagos Politician, Idris Balogun Urges Youths to Shun Protests

Prince Idris Balogun, the Oluomo of Isheri Olofin and a senior special assistant to the Senate President has urged youths in Alimosho and across the state to avoid joining any upcoming protests that may be used by criminal elements to truncate the peace in Lagos State.

Balogun who is also a philanthropist and community leader in Alimosho said the current administration of President Tinubu has been working on many policies that will improve standard of living and should be given more Time.

Balogun made the remarks while speaking on Wednesday at a security summit organised by the Area Commander of Area M Police Command, Idimu in Lagos State, ACP Olayinka Ajeigbe, which had in attendance the State Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade and other stakeholders to discuss the state of security in the state ahead of the rumoured protest in August.

He noted that with time the key policies will soon translate to good results but protest will only cause setback, citing the damage caused by the endsars protest.

The politician recounted how he and others within the community had to rally round and prevent hoodlums from causing grievous damage and destruction in Alimosho during the Endsars protest.

Balogun added that the gathering was to enlighten people against the proposed protest For August 1, counselling that people should desist. He said the President and his administration are working hard and things will soon stabilise.

He urged traditional rulers to engage youth and subjects to be ambassadors for peace and development.

Some of the stakeholders who attended the event include traditional rulers, political leaders, members of transport workers union, business owners, religious leaders, youth council members, market women association amongst others.

Traditional Rulers and other community leaders who also took turns to speak at the event urged Lagos residents to allow criminal elements disrupt the peace that Lagos is known for and should continue to engage in their lawful source of livelihoods.
