Flying Eagles Hold Morocco To Goalless Draw In U-20 AFCON Clash

THECONSCIENCE NG reports that Nigeria’s Flying Eagles played out a goalless draw with Morocco on Sunday in their second Group B fixture at the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

In a tightly contested match at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo, both sides shared possession almost evenly, but neither could find the breakthrough. The result earned Nigeria a crucial point, bolstering their chances of advancing to the knockout stage.

Defender Daniel Bamenyi was instrumental in keeping Morocco at bay, producing a standout defensive performance that earned him the Man of the Match award.

The Flying Eagles, coached by Aliyu Zubairu, now sit on four points after their 1-0 opening win over Tunisia.

In the group’s other fixture, Tunisia bounced back with a 3-1 victory over Kenya, keeping their qualification hopes alive.

Morocco currently top Group B on goal difference ahead of Nigeria, with both teams level on four points. Tunisia trail in third with three points, while Kenya remain bottom without a point.

Nigeria will face Kenya in their final group match on Wednesday. A draw will be enough to see the Flying Eagles through to the knockout round, regardless of the outcome between Tunisia and Morocco, which will be played simultaneously.
