CONMMEP Holds AGM, Inaugurates New Excos
The Congress of Nigerian Maritime Media Practitioners (CONMMEP) on 1st of May, 2025, held its annual general meeting (AGM) in Lagos. The event marked a significant transition as the group inaugurated a new executive council led by Comrade Udo Onyeka as President.
In his inaugural address, the new inaugurated President of CONMMEP, Comrade Udo Onyeka, pledged to prioritize the aspirations of all members and to seek partnerships for the development of the association. “We aim to establish CONMMEP as the envy of other maritime associations within the next 12 months,” he promised.
The former President, Alhaji Tunde Umar-Daniah, also reflected on his three-year tenure, expressing pride in some of the major accomplishments of the organization. “I am filled with pride and nostalgia because we have achieved a formidable organization under my watch,” he stated, highlighting the progress made during his leadership.
The AGM featured a series of enlightening lectures aimed at enhancing the skills of media practitioners. Dayo Bamgbala, member and Publisher of iReports Online, presented a paper on “Maximizing News Websites,” focusing on the integration of technology in news dissemination. Another member of CONMMEP, Security Expert and Editor- in – Chief of Elation Magazine, Chief Darlington Momoh Umoru, followed with a critical discussion on “The Media and National Security,” emphasizing the responsibilities of media professionals in safeguarding national interests.
Also Alfred Omenihu, Editor-In-Chief of National Impact Magazine, explored “Opportunities in Core Printing for Media Practitioners,” providing insights into the evolving landscape of media production.
The meeting concluded with the inauguration of new executive, which includes, Femi Okonofua, Vice President, Bolaji Israel, General Secretary, LOD Onyeji, Assistant Secretary, Isaac Ajiboye, Financial Secretary, Adeola Oluwole, Treasurer, Mcanthony Onuoha, PRO, Titilayo Olumide, Welfare Officer and Izuchukwu Ahuchaogu as Provost.
