Carter Efe Slams Headies For Mohbad’s Posthumous Nomination
THECONSCIENCE NG reports that skit maker and musician, Carter Efe, has criticized the organizers of the Headies Awards for nominating late singer Mohbad for a posthumous award.
Carter Efe accused the award body of exploiting Mohbad’s legacy for attention, claiming they ignored the artist during his lifetime but are now using his name to chase clout.
In a video statement delivered in Pidgin English, he said:
“Why Headies dey misbehave now? Dem dey nominate Mohbad? Wetin make dem nominate Mohbad? When the boy dey alive, dem no give am anything. Anything for clout na him Headies dey do.”
The nomination has triggered mixed reactions online. While some fans view it as a fitting tribute to Mohbad’s musical impact, others share Carter Efe’s sentiment, describing it as a publicity move.
It’s worth noting that Mohbad was posthumously awarded Best Street-Hop Artiste at the recently concluded 17th Headies Awards.
