“Why Edo Ranks Top Five Among Education Accelerators In Africa”

Edo state governor, godwin obaseki

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has said the administration’s education reforms have placed the state in the league of top five states and the only sub-national government in Africa implementing radical changes that have positively transformed the education sector.

Obaseki, who disclosed this while addressing journalists in Benin City, noted that the other education accelerators in Africa are countries, which include Egypt, Rwanda, Mozambique and Sierra Leone.

Obaseki said: “Because we were forced to shut down schools for an extended period, we devised innovative ways to engage children and ensured that they continued to learn while at home.

“Owing to the reforms which we had commenced through the state Basic Education Sector Transformation programme, we were able to transition to e-learning using the EdoBEST@Home platform.
