Runway Meets Enterprise: GTCO Fashion Weekend Returns With Global Designers, Bold Nigerian Creativity

Lagos will host global fashion, lifestyle, and enterprise icons this weekend as the GTCO Fashion Weekend returns for its eighth edition on Saturday at the GTC Centre, Oniru.

THECONSCIENCE NG reports that the highly anticipated two-day showcase, organised by Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GTCO), will once again fuse creativity, culture, and commerce through fashion, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

According to GTCO, “The GTCO Fashion Weekend has become the premier consumer-focused event that places African fashion on the global stage and helps small businesses in the local industry thrive.”

With “Promoting Enterprise” as its recurring theme, this year’s edition will feature four masterclasses, over 140 curated pop-up retail stores, a craft and fabric market, and 12 runway shows spotlighting Africa’s finest and international designers.

Since its inception, GTCO Fashion Weekend has evolved into one of Africa’s most celebrated fashion and lifestyle events—connecting small businesses with wider markets and amplifying the continent’s creative voice. The platform attracts designers, stylists, models, and fashion enthusiasts from across Africa and beyond, providing opportunities for collaboration and global visibility.

Top facilitators for the 2025 masterclasses include Bianca Saunders, Jade Oyateru, Mellisa Butler, Maria Borges, Christina Tegbe, and Patrick Ta, who will share insights on creativity, sustainability, and the business of fashion.

Beyond the glamour, the event serves as a hub for knowledge exchange, networking, and inspiration. Through runway shows, fashion masterclasses, and pop-up exhibitions, participants will experience cutting-edge design trends and global industry perspectives.

GTCO noted that this year’s edition will be particularly spectacular, featuring high-end couture, contemporary streetwear, and a special demonstration of Aso Oke weaving, highlighting its cultural and economic importance. Nigerian designers will also present runway collections that reflect the bold, diverse identity of Africa’s creative economy.

“As we mark the eighth edition of Africa’s biggest fashion event, we take pride in how far this journey has come and the countless stories it has inspired,” GTCO said. “Each year, the GTCO Fashion Weekend reaffirms our belief that enterprise thrives where creativity is encouraged and opportunity is shared.”

True to its inclusive spirit, the GTCO Fashion Weekend remains free and open to the public, making it one of the most accessible fashion experiences on the continent. Visitors can shop from pop-up stalls, attend world-class masterclasses, and enjoy live runway showcases featuring top designers from around the world.

As Lagos prepares to welcome thousands of fashion lovers and entrepreneurs, the city once again stands ready to affirm its place as a vibrant hub for creativity, culture, and commerce.
