Burna Boy Releases Eighth Album

THECONSCIENCE NG reports that Nigerian Afrobeats star Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy, has released his highly anticipated eighth studio album, No Sign of Weakness.

The 16-track project, released via Spaceship Records, Bad Habit, and Atlantic Records, arrived in the early hours of Friday, 11 July, and features a genre-blending mix of afrobeats, rock, country, and R&B influences.

The album includes previously released singles such as “Bundle by Bundle,” “Update,” “Sweet Love,” “TaTaTa” featuring American rapper Travis Scott, and “Change Your Mind” with Nigerian-American country star Shaboozey.

It also boasts high-profile collaborations, including Rolling Stones founder Mick Jagger on “Empty Chairs” and Belgian-Rwandan pop icon Stromae on “Pardon.”

Aside from Shaboozey, the No Sign of Weakness album does not feature any Nigerian stars.

In an interview with Billboard France, the Port Harcourt-born star described the album as “extrospective”.

“It’s not just about me. It’s about growth, understanding, and challenging perceptions while staying true to who I am,” he said.

Burna Boy also revealed that the title of the album, with an overarching theme of resilience, speaks to his survival through difficult periods.

“Despite everything that could have ended me, I’ve never shown weakness,” the 33-year-old said.

The No Sign of Weakness follows his 2023 Grammy-nominated album, I Told Them…, which earned him two Grammy nominations for “City Boys” and “Sittin’ on Top of the World” featuring 21 Savage.

The album’s track list includes “No Panic,” “Come Gimme,” “Buy You Life,” “Kabiyesi,” “28 Grams,” “Love,” “Dem Dey,” “Born Winner,” and the title track “No Sign of Weakness.”

To support the release, Burna Boy is headlining Afro Nation Portugal, where he is expected to perform songs from the new project live for the first time.

In November, he will embark on a North American tour, beginning at Colorado’s iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre — making him the first Nigerian artist to headline the venue.

The tour will also cover cities such as Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago, Boston, and Atlanta, concluding with a two-night stop at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on 17 and 18 December. A European leg is also on the horizon, with a headline performance slated for the 80,000-capacity Stade de France in Paris.

No Sign of Weakness continues Burna Boy’s streak as one of Africa’s most globally impactful artists.

Since his breakout with L.I.F.E in 2013, he has released a string of successful albums, including On a Spaceship (2015), Outside (2018), African Giant (2019), Twice As Tall (2020), Love, Damini (2022), and I Told Them… (2023).

In 2021, he became the first solo Nigerian artist to win a Grammy Award, securing Best Global Music Album for Twice As Tall.
