JAMB Releases Breakdown Of 2025 UTME Results (Full List And Scores)

THECONSCIENCE NG reports that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released a statistical breakdown of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), revealing that more than 1.5 million candidates scored below 200 out of a total of 400.

In a post shared on its official X account on Monday, JAMB disclosed that 1,955,069 candidates sat for the 2025 UTME. Of this number, 1,534,654 candidates—representing 78.5%—scored below 200.

Only 12,414 candidates (0.63%) scored 300 and above, with 4,756 (0.24%) scoring 320 and above, and 7,658 (0.39%) falling between 300 and 319.

A further breakdown showed:

73,441 candidates (3.76%) scored between 250 and 299.

334,560 candidates (17.11%) scored between 200 and 249.

983,187 candidates (50.29%) scored between 160 and 199.

488,197 candidates (24.97%) scored between 140 and 159.

57,419 candidates (2.94%) scored between 120 and 139.

3,820 candidates (0.20%) scored between 100 and 119.

2,031 candidates (0.10%) scored below 100.

JAMB also revealed that 40,247 underage candidates were allowed to sit for the exam due to their “exceptional abilities.” However, only 467 (1.16%) of them met the board’s benchmark for exceptional performance. These candidates will undergo further assessment in subsequent stages.

In terms of exam conduct, 97 candidates were caught in examination malpractice, while 2,157 are currently under investigation. An additional 71,701 candidates were absent, and those facing biometric verification issues are under review. Cleared candidates will be rescheduled.

JAMB noted that some results, including those of blind candidates and those in the JEOG category, are still being processed and will be released soon. The board promised fair treatment for affected candidates and plans to hold a press briefing later in the week to outline result-checking procedures and address public concerns.

For context, in the 2024 UTME, over 1.94 million candidates registered, with 1,904,189 sitting for the exam across 118 towns and more than 700 centres. That year, only 0.4% scored above 300, and 24% scored 200 or higher. Notably, for the first time in three years, female candidates (50.6%) outnumbered male candidates (49.4%). Also, 3,164 persons living with disabilities (PLWDs) registered, marking a 36.2% increase from the previous year.
