Monkey pox: Fear of Outbreak Spreads as Government confirms Several Cases in Seven States
Fears of a possible outbreak have continued to make rounds as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has disclosed that 15 cases of Monkeypox have been confirmed in seven states between January 1 and April 30, 2022.
THECONSCIENCENG gathered that the confirmed cases were from the 46 speculated cases recorded during the period, with Lagos and Adamawa states being regarded as states with the highest figures having three each.
This announcement was made after the United Kingdom Health Security Agency declared that a traveller from Nigeria was confirmed to have monkeypox.
According to the NCDC, it was stated that no death casualty has been caused by the disease in 2022.
The health agency promised to conduct active case searches in facilities and communities that have been reporting positive cases in the country.
