While Nigerians especially Lagos residents are yet to recover from the blow dealt on them by the global Coronavirus pandemic, leaving in its trail deaths, sicknesses, hunger and a wobbling economy, some GTBank staff seem not to bother about their customers plight.
On Tuesday May 5, 2020, expectedly, many banks customers rushed out to take quick advantage of the partial lockdown ease and make transactions that require visiting the banking hall, such as clearing cheques and others.
A security staffer of the bank in the full public glare took advantage of the rush to harass and extort customers, forcing them to part with #1000 each to gain entrance into the bank.
A victim with a reliable video that captures the #1,000 entrance fee saga narrated his ordeals to journalists on how they paid the entrance fee to access the banking hall while those who couldn’t pay were denied access.
It was indeed a sad day for customers of GTB in Herbert Macaulay, Alagomeji Yaba, Lagos who trooped out to the premises on Tuesday, the 5th of May, 2020 expecting the bank to give them a friendly treatment but confronted with stone cold ill treatment as staff of the bank including the security officers connived to add more to their pain.
Efforts to get the bank’s reaction on this failed.
