The Lagos State Police Command has announced significant operational breakthroughs for November 2025, detailing a series of intelligence-led interventions that resulted in the recovery of stolen vehicles, the arrest of suspected armed robbers, and the seizure of illegal firearms and related criminal items.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Jimoh Olohundare, briefing journalists at the Command Headquarters on Monday, described the outcomes as a reflection of the Command’s “structured, sustained, and proactive approach to crime prevention and enforcement across the state.”

The Lagos State Police Command has announced significant operational breakthroughs for November 2025, detailing

He said: “During the month under review, the Command recovered ten vehicles and one motorcycle linked to a variety of offences, including fraudulent conversion, car-snatching, smuggling, and diversion of entrusted vehicles. The recoveries were made in different parts of Lagos following discreet surveillance, intelligence gathering, and follow-up investigations.”

He explained further: “Among the recovered vehicles were a white Toyota Hilux (KTU 940 JR) reportedly used to obtain property under false pretences, and a white Range Rover SUV returned to police custody after the last known driver could not be identified by the registered owner. A black Toyota Land Cruiser was intercepted for lacking valid customs documentation, raising concerns of illegal importation.

“Other recoveries include a silver Lexus GX 460 which was disposed of by the entrusted custodian without the owner’s consent; a silver Honda CR-V linked to an interstate vehicle-snatching syndicate operating between Lagos, Ogun and Edo States; a grey Toyota Corolla (SMK 437 HV) found abandoned in a secluded location; and a wine Toyota Corolla (LSD 887 JJ) recovered following the arrest of suspects associated with an organised interstate robbery ring.

“Also retrieved were an ash-coloured Lexus ES350 fraudulently obtained and transferred by a criminal syndicate, a 2011 Toyota Highlander, and a Boxer Bajaj motorcycle (KTU 310 QN) intercepted after investigative surveillance flagged its suspicious movement. All recovered items are currently undergoing detailed ownership verification.”

Armed Robbery Arrests and Weapons Seizure

The Commissioner also confirmed the arrest of several suspected armed robbers involved in kidnapping, conspiracy, violent assaults, stealing, and threats to life. These operations, carried out across strategic locations in Lagos, led to the recovery of six firearms, including four locally made pistols, a single cut-to-size barrel gun, and one locally fabricated cut-to-size gun. Multiple live cartridges were also seized.

In addition to firearms, officers recovered an assortment of weapons and items commonly used to facilitate criminal activities. These include a machete, battle axe, assault dagger, a set of Nigerian military camouflage, a criminal charm, and fake currency amounting to 4,000 USD.

According to CP Jimoh, these recoveries have significantly disrupted the operational capabilities of violent criminal groups, particularly those involved in coordinated attacks and interstate operations.

Ongoing Investigations
The Commissioner disclosed that several of the arrested suspects are currently assisting detectives in unraveling the broader criminal networks operating within and outside Lagos. Investigators are working to establish the full chain of accomplices linked to the arrested robbery and kidnapping suspects and to trace the interstate and potential cross-border networks enabling vehicle-snatching operations.

Efforts are also underway to authenticate all claims of ownership on the recovered vehicles and motorcycle, determine the origin and distribution routes of the seized fake currency, and analyse how military camouflage and charms were used to aid criminal activities.

The Command is simultaneously reviewing the operations of car-hire services and informal vehicle rental channels often exploited by suspects for diversion and fraudulent conversions.

Commitment to Public Safety

Reaffirming the Command’s commitment to public security, the Commissioner assured that intelligence-driven operations and targeted deployments would continue throughout the state, particularly as the year-end period typically witnesses heightened criminal activity.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and to promptly report suspicious movements, stressing that community cooperation remains vital to sustaining long-term security gains.
