SWAN to Honour Football Supporters Club Chair, Rev. Ikpea, on Friday
The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) will on Friday, 31st October 2025, honour the National Chairman of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC), Reverend Sam Ikpea, at its Diamond (60th) Jubilee National Award ceremony in Abuja.
According to a formal letter addressed to Rev. Ikpea and signed by the SWAN Secretary-General, Ambassador Ikenna Okonkwo, the event will take place at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, beginning at 1 p.m.
The letter stated that Rev. Ikpea’s recognition comes as part of SWAN’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations and is in appreciation of his “resilient and sustained development drive in the Nigerian football ecosystem.”

It further commended Ikpea’s commitment to nurturing football talent across the country, noting that his leadership has enabled many young people to realise their dreams and rise to prominence both locally and internationally.
“Through you, a number of young people with football talents have realised their potentials and developed to stardom, breathing life into many homes and communities within Nigeria and beyond,” the letter read.
“Nigerian sports writers owe it to thank you for making Nigerian football great.”
Reverend Sam Ikpea, a long-time advocate for football development and fan engagement, has led the Nigeria Football Supporters Club through years of growth, unity, and international recognition. His leadership has been instrumental in projecting Nigeria’s football passion and culture across global sporting arenas.
