Court Sentences Killer Of Kwara Final-Year Student To Death By Hanging
THECONSCIENCE NG reports that the Kwara State High Court in Ilorin has sentenced Abdulrahman Bello to death by hanging for the murder of Hafsoh Lawal, a final-year student of the College of Education, Ilorin.
Delivering the judgment on Thursday, Justice Hannah Ajayi acquitted four other defendants, clearing them of any involvement in the crime.
In her ruling, Justice Ajayi described the killing of Hafsoh as “cruel, wicked, and an extreme display of human wickedness.” She stated that the evidence presented in court clearly established that the victim was murdered for the purpose of money rituals and illicit trading in human body parts.
Justice Ajayi also dismissed Bello’s claims of love and intentions to marry the deceased, labeling them as deliberate lies designed to lure Hafsoh to his residence, where he ultimately killed her.
The court subsequently sentenced Abdulrahman Bello to death by hanging, while the other four suspects were discharged and declared not guilty.
