CONMMEP Applauds Customs Chief, Adeniyi over Exemplary One-Year Performance
The Congress of Nigerian Maritime Media Practitioners (CONMMEP) has applauded the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR for a one year brilliant performance and outstanding records of achievements as the helmsman of Nigeria Customs Service -NCS.
CONMMEP, an association that accurately reports events in the Maritime sector, joined other maritime stakeholders in extolling the leadership qualities of a seasoned and visionary administrator who by dint of hard work and genuine patriotism has within a period of one year repositioned the Nigeria Customs Service on the pathway to continued remarkable accomplishments.
The appointment of Adewale Adeniyi MFR as the Comptroller General of Customs by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, added fresh impetus to the organisation within a very short time following the deployment of officers to sensitive posts based on merit and capacity.
CGC Adeniyi has within the past one year moved the Nigeria Nigeria Customs Service to the top with four other Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) out of the thirty six (36) assessed by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC).
This significant improvement is traced to the trade facilitation strategies put in place by the CGC within the past one year. The over ₦4.1 Trillion generated under CGC Adeniyi is a testament to his managerial skill and longstanding public relations acumen.
CONMMEP is aware of the top-notch anti-smuggling measures and approaches being put in place by Mr. Adeniyi’s administration that are successfully twisting the arms of diehard economic saboteurs, especially peddlers of illicit drugs.
CONMMEP wishes to unequivocally state that the robust inter agency and bilateral relationships being witnessed presently are inspired by the CGC’s deep understanding of the importance of collaborative efforts, formidable synergy and lasting mutual network across board.
CONMMEP hereby wishes to appeal to the CGC to keep an eye on some unscrupulous elements in Nigeria Customs Service that have vowed to run the organisation and the country aground by consistently abetting and aiding the unpatriotic activities of smugglers and other economic saboteurs at Sea ports, Airports and Border Stations.
CONMMEP commends CGC Adeniyi for the decongestion of ports as well as being part of the team that dismantled the monstrous perennial gridlock on Tincan/ Apapa Port corridor, the reopening of previously inaccessible port access road remains a milestone achievement for the Nigeria Customs, Nigeria Ports Authority, the Lagos State Government and others who were part of that collaborative effort.
CONMMEP extended appreciation to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for rejigging the Service by appointing a seasoned Customs officer who rose from the ranks to pilot the affairs of the organisation.
Finally, the Congress of Nigerian Maritime Media Practitioners (CONMMEP) urges the CGC to intensify efforts in entrenching an efficient and relatively formidable trade facilitation mechanism that would bring to actualisation 24 hours cargo clearance regime at Nigerian ports and Border stations.
