THECONSCIENCEng reports that MMA Fighting has Floyd Mayweather vs Logan Paul live round-by-round updates of one of the top boxing fights of the year Sunday night at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Fla.
The main started around 11 p.m. ET. Check out our Mayweather vs Logan Paul results page to find out what happened on the undercard. Mayweather, who has a 50-0 career record, competed in an exhibition for the first time since Dec. 31, 2018 when he knocked out Tenshin Nasukawa in the first round.
Round 1: Paul all smiles before a single punch is thrown. They’re just feeling each other out in the first 30 seconds. Paul flicking out a jab, Mayweather staying out of range. Paul scores one to the body.
He has his arms hands low as Mayweather circles. Mayweather ducks a punch and tags Paul to the body after they break a clinch. Quick left hand by Mayweather. Counter left by Mayweather. Mayweather jabs Paul.
Paul sneaks in a shot to the body. Mayweather staying just past the end of Paul’s jab. Paul starts winging big hooks as Mayweather turtles up. There’s the round one bell.
Round 2: Paul sticking with the jab, but he can’t quite connect. Mayweather with a couple of body shots. Paul staying busy even if he’s not really landing anything. Paul scores with a jab. Jab to the body by Mayweather. Mayweather with a smirk on his face.
He’s slipping punches but not throwing much back. Now it’s Mayweather with the jab. Body shot by Mayweather. Mayweather blocks a Paul counter.
Round 3: Paul soaked in sweat at the opening of round three. He wants to land something big. Mayweather’s defense holding steady. A tired-looking Paul is wrapping Mayweather up now, referee warning both guys to keep it clean as they engage in some dirty boxing off of a clinch.
Short uppercut scores for Paul as they keep getting tied up. Mayweather with a lot of exaggerated movement. Right hand to the chin by Mayweather.
Mayweather misses with a left hook. Mayweather lands a couple of good body shots as Paul goes to lean on him. Paul with a lead right hand but he walks right into a counter. Fast left hook from Mayweather connects. Another left hook lands and Paul goes to tie up. He’s looking slow as we head to the fourth.
Round 4: Mayweather lands a left hook. He’s in a rhythm now and Paul is firing wild. Lead left hook by Mayweather. Hard right from Paul, but it’s deflected by a vintage Mayweather shoulder roll.
Right hand by Mayweather just misses. Paul trying to keep him back with a jab. Paul whiffs on an uppercut. Counter right hits Paul.
Left hook by Mayweather. Mayweather just loads up a right and lands. Paul might have just punched Mayweather in the butt. Paul is GASSED. Mayweather seeing everything as he walks Paul down.
Round 5: Paul’s shots just hitting gloves. Mayweather steps in and scores with a left hook. A right hook lands that backs Paul up against the ropes. Paul staying busy. Lead right for Mayweather. Mayweather hits a shot to the body and Paul is very slow to straighten up.
Big counter uppercut by Mayweather. Straight right by Mayweather. Another hard left hook lands for Mayweather. Paul is in full retreat.
Round 6: Paul with a punch to the body, he’s working, he just cannot keep Mayweather off of him. Lots of clinching from Paul. Mayweather misses with a right. Precision shot to the body by Mayweather.
He lands another good body shot. Paul just tossing that jab out there. Lead left hook lands for Mayweather. Right hand counter for Mayweather. Mayweather lands a hard right at the 10-second clapper.
Round 7: Paul wings a left hook. Plenty of clinching in the first minute of the seventh. Mayweather punches the body.
They grapple and Mayweather just bullies Paul against the ropes, pushing Paul’s head back. Jab by Paul. Counter left by Mayweather. Paul ducks right into a short left.
Round 8: Jab by Mayweather. Paul with a left hand. The crowd gets restless as Paul initiates a clinch. Lead left hook lands again for Mayweather. More holding from Paul and they’re separated with a minute to go.
Paul goes low, then up top, neither punch lands. Mayweather tags Paul with a check left hook. He scores with another left hook. Paul points to the clock and tries to catch Mayweather off-guard. All smiles as the fight comes to a close.
