The event will feature the highly anticipated Annual Lecture and Awards Ceremony, which is slated to take place on October 11, 2024, at the prestigious Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan, commencing at 2:30 p.m.
This year’s celebration will center around the theme, “Providing a Holistic and Qualitative Education Hinged on Integrity and Excellence 2”. A focal point of the event will be the insightful discussion on the topic: “Traditional Classroom Learning System Versus Emerging Digital Learning Systems: A Comparative Analysis.”
Several dignitaries are expected to grace the occasion, including His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde (FNSE), Governor of Oyo State, and Prof. Abdulwaheed Adelabu Salihu, the State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, both serving as Special Guests of Honour.
The Chairman of the day will be Prof. (Chief) David Olusoji Adejumo, former Chairman of Oyo SUBEB, while Prof. Joseph Adeniyi Olowofela, a former Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology is a Special Guest of Honour. The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Kayode Adebowale (mni, FAS), will serve as the host.
Speaking on the upcoming event, the National President of ACOSA, Engr Oyakhire Okpeta said, “Abadina College has continued to blaze the trail among secondary schools in Ibadan and Oyo State in general. The annual lecture series is a way through which the alumni contribute to educational thought leadership and unravel topical issues centred on pedagogy.”
“This discourse is particularly timely as the education sector continues to evolve in response to technological advancements and the growing need for a balance between conventional learning and digital innovation,” he added.
The event serves not only to celebrate the rich history of Abadina College but also to honour distinguished alumni who have made significant contributions to society and have exemplified excellence in their various fields.
The annual lecture is expected to draw participants from political, educational, and corporate Nigeria, who will gather to commemorate nearly five decades of academic excellence.
