A moment of gift sharing and joy added a refreshing twist to the display of raw vocal prowess during the third episode of the voice Nigeria 4 at the weekend.
Sensational singer and a four-time judge on the show, Ebele Iruobe, popularly known as Waje wowed everyone with her surprise gifts for the music band, camera man and a member of the audience during the global singing competition tv series, in an apparent commemoration of the yuletide season.
More, at the end of episode three, twenty three singers have now been selected by the judges from the ongoing blind auditions stage following the emergence of a set of nine fresh talents who scaled the hurdle during the episode to join fourteen others who already did.
The new list includes sensational singer Bryan Jeremiah, footballer and singer, David Ikande; Euphorio Asangusong; a chef, Timi Osigwe, Adanna Onuegbu, Savvy Omina, Faith Onyeje, vocalist Gideon Adesipe and Michael Akinsola.
25 more spots are up for grabs as the blind auditions stage continues on the reality TV show sponsored by Nigeria’s premier financial institution, FirstBank.
Four Nigerian music superstars – Niyola, Praiz, Waje and Naeto C, feature as judges and coaches on the show.
They were all visibly mesmerised and turned when 32 year-old Bryan gave a beautiful rendition of Boyz 2 men’s One Sweet Day after a few singers were unimpressive. His fluid voice, vocal range and the ease with which he sang got the judges begging him to join their team before he settled for Naeto C.
22 year-old David who plays guitar and football also impressed Waje and Praiz with his delivery of Lorren Alfred’s Never Enough but the former quickly blocked the latter to grab the talent who also recounted how he sadly lost his first and only high school lover to Boko Haram menace.
In another twist of luck, 30 year-old Euphorio was literally saved by coach Praiz who expressed confidence in the singer’s potential despite a performance that could have been better. Praiz pointed technical complications in Juda Michaels’s Issues as the singer’s choice of song.
A chef and graduate of English, Timi performed Jessie J’s Who You Are to the admiration of Niyola, Praiz and Naeto C before choosing Praiz as coach.
Adanna’s performance of Rihanna’s Love on the Brain got only Naeto Cturning before the Ajegunle based talent settled for him while Waje was the only judge who turned for 27 year-old Faith Onyeje following a handling of Ed Sheeran’s Perfect.
Savvy Omina’s performance of All for 1’s I Swear also got a spot with Naeto C.
30 year-old back up vocalist, Gideon Adesipe was another star that shone so brightly during the episode leaving Praiz heart broken for turning too late for him. He gave so much to enjoy with Ed Sheeran’s Kiss Me that all four coaches turned in quick succession to behold the super singer.
The show ended on a high note with power singer Michael Akinsola’s remake of Bill Weather’s Ain’t No Sunshine. His unique tone gave everyone goosebumps and Niyola, Praiz and Naeto C turned for him before he chose Niyola to close the episode.
At the end of episode three, Praiz, Naeto C and Waje have six talents each while Niyola got five talents.
