The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Tincan Island Command, said it has generated two hundred and forty billion, three hundred and two million naira (N240, 302, 000) revenue into the federation account so far in 2024.
With a monthly target of 94 billion, the command has thus surpassed its January and February targets by 107 and 141 percents respectively.
The Area Controller, Comptroller Dera Nnadi, made the disclosure at a press briefing in Lagos on Friday.
Nnadi revealed further that collaboration with sister security agencies including National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA, Department of State Security DSS and Police has yielded significant result in form of enforcement, interceptions and seizures of illicit substances and weapon that would have entered the country and compromise safety and security.
He revealed that the joint efforts has produced the seizures of eleven assault rifles, six pistols, psychotropic substances including several kilogrammes of cannabis indica, as well as 23 packages containing 23 kilogrammes of heroine concealed in various containers.

He noted that while arrests have been made for prosecution, investigations are ongoing to trace the syndicates to main sources even outside the nation.
The Comptroller assured that the resolve to intensify seizures is in a bid to further support the Federal Government’s efforts to stem insecurity and other criminal activities and keep the nation safe.
“As you aware the purveyors of these products intend to use them for nefarious activities including support for insurgency, kidnapping and other vices that are inimical to the wellbeing and security of our nation,” he stated.

Nnadi also added that the Time Release Study TRS, a World Customs Organisation supported programme and tool recently launched for monitoring time required to deliver cargo at the port remains fully active and top priority for the command.
He urged all stakeholders to further support the programme designed to optimise service delivery at the port in a bid to track how cargo move from ship to final owners warehouse.
Nnadi said the command has also recently held consultative meetings with stakeholders such as exporters, terminal operators, shipping lines and port authority to enhance smooth operations and improve service delivery to stakeholders.
He also thanked the Lagos State government, Nigeria Port Authority NPA, and other stakeholders for the opening up of the port corridor access road to the port, saying the road is now smooth and free of trucks having being locked down since 2017; it should be celebrated as it would further help increase service delivery quality.
