Embattled American singer, R Kelly, has been found guilty at his child pornography trial in Chicago.
THECONSCIENCEng gathered thatl a federal jury in Chicago found R. Kelly guilty of producing child pornography and abusing minors in his second sex crimes trial in two years.
The singer was already convicted of sex trafficking in June and still faces additional trials.
He is also serving a 30-year sentence after prosecutors proved that he ran a decade-long sex trafficking enterprise through his music business.
The jury began deliberating on Tuesday after listening to weeks of testimony from victims.
The latest trial in Chicago focused on the sex tapes that were part of a 2008 Illinois child pornography trial in which Kelly was acquitted after the witness declined to take the stand.
The 55-year-old musician — full name Robert Sylvester Kelly — was accused of videotaping himself having sex with underage girls.
He was convicted on six out of the 13 counts he faced — three counts of child pornography and three counts of child enticement.
Last month, a witness also testified that Kelly had sex with her “innumerable times” before she turned 18.
Since the 1990s, Kelly has been repeatedly accused of sexual abuse of young adults and minors.
The assault allegations against Kelly had received wide exposure after the 2019 Lifetime documentary ‘Surviving R Kelly’, which explored claims that an entourage of supporters protected Kelly and silenced his victims for decades.
R.Kelly had been arrested by federal authorities in Chicago back in 2019 and transferred to New York in June 2021.
The award winning singer, best known for the 1996 smash hit ‘I Believe I Can Fly’, has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
