In furtherance of community programmes aimed at combating criminal activities and promoting safer society, the Inspector General of Police in collaboration with civil society groups hosted another historic event in the Alimosho Area of Lagos State, which witnessed a large turnout of people despite the rainy weather.
The Eagle Crime Awareness and Prevention Initiative (ECAPI), in partnership with the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), organised a Road Walk and Public Enlightenment campaign on Thursday, May 30th.
The event witnessed a massive turnout and commenced at 9AM, starting from the Isheri-Olofin Roundabout, moving inward to Lasu-Ojo Road, and back to Idimu and its environs.
Speaking at the occasion, the National Coordinator of POCACOV, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi, said “the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun PHD,
remains committed to creating and sustaining a crime-free society.”
The President of ECAPI, Ambassador Samuel Eniola, expressed utmost satisfaction with the large turnout, while urging the youth to be agents of positive change for a better tomorrow.
The event was graced by the presence of the Area M Commander, all Divisional Police Officers under Alimosho Local Government, including the O/C CP Tactical Squad, Ijegun Annex. Additionally, clergymen, Muslim scholars, and members of the public from all walks of life participated in the event.
Pastor Johnson Kalejaiye took the opportunity to commend IGP Egbetokun and ECAPI for their efforts. He shared his personal experience and emphasised the importance of building youth resilience against crime for a safer Nigeria.
Commissioner for Youths and Social Development, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende Abubakri, reiterated the government’s advocacy for door-to-door sensitization on drug abuse, sexual harassment, and child molestation.
The highlight of the event was the recognition of Oba Meran as an anti-crime ambassador and Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende for their contributions in promoting a safer society. Furthermore, participants were awarded scholarships to enhance and strengthen their educational careers.
