The Lagos State Command of the of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has warned intending vandals of critical national assets and infrastructure to desist from dastardly acts or face the wrath of the law.
The Command gave the warning in the wake of an urgent clarion call by the Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Audi.
At a security summit held on Thursday with stakeholders in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area, under the Area H Command, the command addressed various security challenges in the environment.
The Honourable Member of the House of Representative, Amuwo Odofin, George Adegeye, represented by Mr Robert Obasi at the event, affirmed that a safer Amuwo is everybody’s business and that the only way to achieve it amongst other things is for everyone to remain committed and dedicated to the overall well being of the community, with an absolute sense of belonging, responsibility and ownership of its security, safety and peace.
Speaking, The State Commandant, NSCDC, Adedotun Keshinro emphasized the importance of dialogue, synergy and cooperation as key to nipping the security challenges prone to this area in the bud.
He however, warned vandals of critical national assets and infrastructure such as; bridges, man holes and others in the area to desist from such dastardly act or face the wrath of the law squarely, when they are apprehended.
The Lagos State Commandant also attributed, the successes achieved, by security agencies during the recent protest in the state, to the cooperation and collective support received, from the good people of the state and he also assured Lagosians that the peace and tranquility will be sustained, through more community engagement events and dialogue such as this.
The Area Commander, Area H, Assistant Commandant of Corps Ayodele Bankole appreciated, the Government and the people of Amuwo for their immense collocation with the NSCDC and sincere interest in the business of their personal and collective security.
He said that oweing to this fact, it was imperative for his Area Command to carry out the marching order of the State Commandant in the area of community engagement and dialogue with stakeholders in the area, which eventually, brought about this maiden security summit under his watch. He appealed, to the people to continue to support the NSCDC and other security agencies and hoped to sustain programmes such as this as time goes on.
The summit featured a paper presentation on the theme, “A safer Amuwo Odofin: Winning the goal together,” delivered, by Barrister Segun Afolaranmi and a panel session and interactive session moderated, by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Deputy Superintendent of Corps Oluwaseun Abolurin.
Present at the event also was the Executive Chairman, Amuwo Odofin, Eng., Dr Valentine Buraimoh, ably represented, by Mr Saji Gbadebo, Former Executive Chairman, Amuwo Odofin, Honourable Ayodele Adewale, Zonal Commander Federal Housing Authority, Olagbemiro Akintola, Deputy Commandant of Corps Eze Onyegbula in charge of Private Guard Company Department, Assistant Commandant of Corps Fabian Adoga from Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Department, Assistant Commandant of Corps Ayodele Bankole ( Host Area Commander, Area H ), students, and many other important personalities, non – governmental organizations.
Others were traditional institution, clerics, Eze Ndigbo, Catholic Parish, Iya Oloja General of Amuwo, groups, Divisional Officers from Amuwo Odofin ( Superintendent of Corps Adijat Adisa – Host Division ), Ijegun, Ikotun – Igando, Alimosho and Irewe Osolu Divisions and sister security agencies such as; NPF, NIS, DSS, FRSC, NDLEA and LNSC.
