Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ijumu Local Government Area, met on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at the Aiyetoro home of Prince Olusola Akanmode, where 2023 elections and other sundry party issues were discussed.
Briefing stakeholders after the close- door meeting, Prince Akamode thanked members for their patience and commitment to the party.
He then conveyed the appeal of leaders that all litigations relating to political offices and criminal processes be discontinued in court, stressing that all contentious issues should be resolved through the party mechanism.
He charged on the need for party members to brace themselves up for a win in coming elections as electoral victory is the only parameters for measuring the greatness of a political party.
He congratulated all winners of the recent Wards and Local Government congresses, imploring them to work together in unity, in the interest of the party.
The Aiyetoro prince, further stressed that riotous politics and acrimony is alien to Ijumu politics, and as such ways must found out of differences.
Chief Abiodun Ojo, in the same vein buttressed the statements of Akamode, on the need to work monolithically in the interest of the party
He said there is good understanding among the leadership of the party in Ijumu and he urged all to go back home to their wards and do all that are necessary to give the party a win in 2023 as they, in the leadership, plan to set up a committee to settle all rancors. He appealed to all aggrieved parties to sheath their sword.
According to him, people like Akanmode, Abiodun Ojo and himself, have no reason for undue interest in who becomes what, at either ward or Local Government level. Like the earlier two speakers, he pleaded that all acrimony be buried.
Earlier, at the commencement of the meeting, former Deputy Chief of Staff to the government of Kogi State, Prince Richard Akanmode had apologized that the meeting, scheduled for 9.00 am was starting an hour behind schedule.
He requested Pastor S.K. Adekunle to lead the opening prayer before handling over to Pastor Stanley Ajileye, who moderated.
Closing prayers was said by Alhaji Uthman Elero, at about 11.30 am.
