May 29 Inauguration: Tinubu’s Governance Style of Inclusion and Neutralising Opposition

No doubt, President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains one of the finest Nigerian politician with finesse in the history of Nigeria Politics ahead his inauguration on May 29.

He is highly regarded for his strategic planning and harmonization in relations with the opposition even at the point of political storm.

Tinubu’s brilliance can be traced back to the days when he was the only opposition Governor in the South-West, and he stood tall among his contemporaries.

His prowess, doggedness, uniqueness and perseverance metamorphosed into the birth of the defunct Action Congress, AC and Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, to a formidable National Party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, that has ruled the nation for Eight Years and still counting.

The historic victory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the February 25th 2023 presidential election in Nigeria for the first time gave the electorates to have beyond two choices of candidate that has been the norm since 1999, where the Peoples Democratic Party and others jostle for the soul of the country.

But the 2023 Presidential Election changed the dynamics, as the electorates have to choose between the ruling APC, PDP, Labour Party, LP and the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP.

At the end of the electioneering exercise Bola Ahmed Tinubu was declared winner, polling 8,794,726 votes to defeat his closest rivals Atiku Abubakar of the People Democratic Party who polled 6,984,520 votes and Peter Obi who polled 6,101,533.

Tinubu in bringing all Nigerians from different part of the country to a common ground in the next administration as he has continued to reach out to all leaders who matter across board.

Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party was a presidential candidate in the last election, holding firm his Kano base with significant votes.

Kwankwaso who had earlier said before election that, if he can’t get the presidency he will rather support Tinubu to become Nigeria President was reported to have had a four hours meeting with the president elect in France.

The official details of the meeting has not been communicated, but many believe that there are strong indications that Kwankwaso might be part of the Tinubu administration.

Tinubu who has already extended the Olive Branch to the leader of the PDP G5 in person of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

The G5 governor who had broke out of the PDP during the electioneering campaign gave victory to the Tinubu presidency as the ruling party won in all their states.

The Alhaji Lamidi Apapa faction of the Labour party seems to have giving room for negotiation as they have put together themselves and distance the party from the alleged plot to scuttle the swearing – in Ceremony of the president elect on May 29.

Atiku Abubakar of the PDP is a long time friend of Bola Tinubu.

Tinubu gave him the platform in 2007 to wrestle for the Presidential Seat under the defunct Action Congress, AC, founded by Tinubu.

Atiku vie the Presidential Seat from his boss, former President Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo who denied him the PDP ticket and gave it to the late President Umaru Yar’Adua.

Obasanjo persecuted Atiku and sent him away from the PDP in which Tinubu gave him succour and gave him a platform to jostle for the coveted seat.

Other political parties including the Social Democratic Party, SDP, All Peoples Party, APP and the Action Alliance, AA, have congratulated the president elect.

The APP and AA are also one of the leading political parties in the last election who has withdrawn their petition against Tinubu.

Atiku and Obi are challenging the Feb 25th election in court, however Bola Tinubu has extended Olive branch to all contestant to help build the nation.

This shows that Tinubu is bent to run an all inclusive government, bringing all oppositions and warring parties to sheath the sword and join hands in the development of the nation.
