I Don’t Need Tinubu’s Consent To Be Lagos Governor – Jandor

Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has asserted that he does not need to consult with the influential figure of Bourdillon, President Bola Tinubu, to become the governor of Lagos, Nigeria’s economic hub.

Jandor, who was the 2023 governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos, made the statement in a recent interview.

His political journey began with the All Progressives Congress (APC), but in 2022, he left the party along with his Lagos4Lagos Movement, a faction within the ruling party. He then joined the PDP and emerged as the party’s governorship candidate in Lagos for the 2023 election. However, he was defeated by APC’s Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was re-elected to office.

Recently, Jandor left the PDP, accusing some of its leaders of undermining his efforts. Reflecting on his experience, he shared:

“We were waiting to see if the party at the national level, governed by its constitution, would address anti-party activities openly and impose sanctions. We waited for two years, but instead of taking action, the same individual was appointed Vice Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee by the national body.”

Despite his disillusionment with the PDP, Jandor remains determined to pursue his 2027 governorship ambition. He expressed openness to joining any party that aligns with his vision, saying, “APC is one of the 17 parties that are left. A coalition is emerging in Nigeria. Other parties, like the Labour Party, are also options.”

When asked about his plans for 2027, Jandor emphasized his unwavering commitment: “We have chosen this path; we are not deviating. Only God can determine who and when. This is the path we have chosen.”

Since leaving the APC in 2022, Jandor has not met with Tinubu. When questioned whether he had sought Tinubu’s endorsement or consulted with other APC leaders in Lagos, Jandor firmly replied, “No, we are not in the same party. I don’t have to consult with them.”
