Former American President, Donald Trump on Wednesday told voters in Pennsylvania that they have no choice but to vote for him.
Speaking in a battleground Pennsylvania at a town hall, Trump criticised fellow candidate, Kamala Harris over her past position on fracking, describing her as anti-industry.
Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, is a technique for recovering gas and oil from shale rock, usually through drilling into the earth and directing a high-pressure mixture of water, sand and chemicals at a rock layer, to release the gas inside.
THECONSCIENCE NG gathers that the effects of fracking, a common industry in Pennsylvania, include contamination of drinking water, disruption of ecosystems, and adverse effects on human and animal health, thereby raising concerns.
Harris who had earlier in her career supported a ban has since pledged not to ban fracking.
The former president stated: “If she [Kamala Harris] wins there’s no fracking and PA can’t take that chance. It brings in too many jobs and it helps the economy.
“This is a woman who is dangerous. She wants no fracking in Pennsylvania. She said it 100 times. It’s your biggest business, and you get a big majority of your income from fracking, and you have somebody that’s not going to allow fracking, she’s not going to allow it. You can’t take the chance. You have no choice. You’ve got to vote for me. You’ve got to vote.”
He told the audience that if Harris wins, welfare and social security would dissolve.
The former president also put a heavy focus on border control.
“People are coming in from all over the world- coming in at levels we’ve never seen,” said Trump. “We need to do the largest deportation in history.”
He also addressed the war abroad, telling voters if he is elected there would not be a “third world war.”
According to FiveThirtyEight, national polling numbers show Harris leading Trump by just over 3 points.
However, when looking at who’s ahead in Pennsylvania, the polling numbers show a tighter race with Harris only 1 point ahead in the major swing state.
Trump said he is confident as voters prepare to head to the polls this November, and “there has never been enthusiasm like we have now.”
