BREAKING! Suspended UNILAG VC Ogundipe Vindicated, To Resume as VC
TheConscience reports that the suspended UNILAG VC Ogundipe has received his letter of reinstatement late Tuesday after being cleared of any wrongdoings, causing wild jubilation in the University community.
Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, the embattled Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos was removed by the now disbanded Dr Wale Babalakin led Governing Council in August in the heat of a crisis ignited by what a source described as “more of financial tussle than any other”.
His removal had stirred massive protests by the University Senate, staff unions and other members of the community who had unanimously backed the embattled VC. Ogundipe was also later accused of financial misappropriations and spending beyond his approval limits.
However, a source very close to the now victorious UNILAG VC Ogundipe confirmed to TheConscience that Ogundipe has indeed now received his letter of reinstatement from the government on Tuesday in Abuja and was expected to return to Lagos on Wednesday.
The source also said the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu will make the official announcements in that regards today.
TheConscience gathered that the embattled UNILAG VC Ogundipe was exonerated by the presidential panel that investigated the crisis that engulfed the institution due to the disagreement between him and popular businessman, Wale Babalakin, who was, until a few weeks ago, the Pro Chancellor/ Council Chairman.
