The sum of N200,000 cash prizes, school bags, certificates and other reward items were splashed on winners at the 3rd edition of the Deaf Bible Quiz organised by the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) in Lagos.
THECONSCIENCEng reports that two students who represented Ipakodo Senior Secondary School emerged first and got the sum of N100,000, school bags, certificate and other items.
Students of Hope Fountain School came second and carted home N60,000, school bags, certificates and other gift items while students of the Federal Science and Technology School came third and got the sum of N40,000, school bags, certificates and other gift items.

Students from six other schools which participated were not left out as they all Gift items, including school bags, certificates of participation and other freebies at the competition.
The schools included Ikeja Junior High school, Ikeja Senior High School, Ipakodo Junior School and Sango Junior School. Others were State Junior School and State Senior School.
The colourful deaf Bible Quiz which was coordinated using both sign language interpreters and regular compere followed the ‘pick a number’ style in a two-round, 6 questions per school format.
Speaking at the event which held at the Christian Mission for the Deaf Church in Somolu, Lagos, Pastor Samuel Sanusi, the General Secretary and Chief Executive Officer CEO of the BSN who was the Chief Host, urged participants to embrace the opportunity to compete on a subject that pleases the Almighty God.

He stated that all participants were winners and should emulate the good virtues of sportsmanship and Christianity.
Represented by Mrs Yemisi Oluwagbemi, he explained that the event was organised to further propagate the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Word of God in line with the mandate of the BSN in Nigeria.
He further congratulated all winners and called for more support from the general public for the BSN to help it achieve more results through the distribution of more Bibles and organisation of outreach programmes to spread the word of God in line with its mandate.
In his own remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, Pastor Rotimi Wilson said he was particularly delighted to see specially challenged people willingly and joyfully partake in the privilege of knowing God’s words and competing on that.
“We are happy to see special people participate in this Bible Society Nigeria event. We appreciate that you can willingly partake in this grace. It’s important to realise the purpose of God for ones life and live according to it. I know that the purpose of God for your lives will be discovered and manifested through God’s words. Read your Bible more and strive to please God always.”
The programme was witnessed by many other dignitaries, representatives of various deaf christian missions, deaf instructors and the Lagos State government represented by Mrs Adegbite, an official from the Ministry of Education, District Two.
